Insecurity comes when you try to be what you are not.
The moment you move away from your natural way of being and try to fit into something else, there is a constant gap between who you are and who you are trying to be. That gap creates insecurity.
When you are aligned with your own nature, that tension goes away. You are able to function with ease and confidence, because you are not pretending or forcing yourself into something unnatural.
From the Mahabharata
Dronacharya is a clear example of this.
He was a Brahmana by birth, but he was constantly trying to match the power and status of Kshatriyas. Because he was trying to be something he was not, he was filled with insecurity.
