Thinking about it

Why do I feel like I’m not growing into my full potential?

This usually happens when you are not fully taking responsibility for what you are capable of doing.

Growth does not come from just having ability, it comes from actually using it. When you avoid responsibility or don’t push yourself to do your best, your capacity remains unused.

Over time, this creates the feeling of being stuck, not because you lack potential, but because that potential is not being exercised.

From the Mahabharata

Dhritarashtra reflects this clearly.

He had the position and the opportunity to lead, but he leaned on Vidura, on Bhishma, on Sanjaya. He took the kingdom but did not rule it. He was even offered Divya drishti, the chance to see what God sees, and said no, because looking clearly felt too uncomfortable.

Because he would not take full responsibility, his personality never truly grew.

The Pandavas were different. Each one was a force in themselves, and yet they still supported each other. They were not dependent. They were united. That is the difference between leaning on someone and standing beside them.
